show_me.jpg

Show me turns your iPad into an electronic white board. You can import your own photos and add a commentary. Using Show Me, teachers and students can both teach and learn from the community of videos. As educators, we know that the highest level of understanding is achieved when a student knows the material well enough to teach it. Show Me empowers students to think about a topic and how it should be presented. ShowMe has a paid option which enables teachers to create groups of students with whom they share lessons. It costs $5/month to create and maintain groups. With groups, teachers can track student progress. Students do not pay to be in a teacher’s group.

Voice Record Pro is a simple to use app. Recorded voices are in standard AAC/MP4/M4A format. They can be converted to MP3 (and then used as a podcast) and can be saved in a range of locations, depending on the apps on your device. Soundcloud is an online service for recording, hosting, and sharing audio tracks through social networks such as Facebook or Twitter. SoundCloud can also be used for directly recording a spoken track. One of the really good features of SoundCloud for languages teaching is the option to comment on tracks as they are playing. You could use this to provide feedback to a student on their oral performance. To make a comment just play the track, click on it, then type your comment in the comment box. Your comments could be tied to the exact second at which a student pronounces something incorrectly, uses the wrong verb form, or to praise a student for pronouncing a new word particularly well. Soundcloud allows you to have up to two hours of recordings stored in your account at one time. After that you need to either delete an old recording or upgrade to a paid plan.
